Panthers Wrap Up Panther Open

FINAL RESULTS
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa track and field team hosted the 2016 Panther Open today in the UNI-Dome, posting top-times across the board.
UNI got things started in the field events, with Tatiana Rice and Shawn Koch sweeping the long jump and triple jump. Koch scored an indoor personal-best in the men's long jump for the win, gaining a mark of 24-0.75, adding a jump of 48-7.25 in the triple jump. Rice finished with a long jump of 17-5.50 along with a triple jump mark of 36-8.25.
Sticking with the jumps, UNI finished with first place finishes in the men's and women's high jump. Kassidy Sharp recorded a height of 5-4.25 in the women's competition while Jayvon Matthews grabbed a personal-best of 6-4.00 on the men's side.
Senior Jamie Lindstrom came away with two wins today, posting victories in the women's shot put (47-1.50) and the weight throw (59-11.00). Brad Walski won the men's weight throw with a season-best 57-4.00 toss while Isaac Holtz threw for a personal-best 56-10.00 for second place.
On the track, Maddie Beeler won the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes, posting a personal-best time of 7.94 in the 60. Maddie Irmen also finished with a personal-best in the 60 meter dash, coming across the line in 7.95 for second place.
Evan Long won his first collegiate race in the men's 60 meter dash with a personal record time of 7.07. Freshman Corey Hertz followed suit, picking up a win in the men's 200 meters, finishing with a time of 22.11.
The Panthers came away with three personal-bests in the 600 meter run, including a one-two finish from the Pingel brothers in the men's race. Jordan Pingel won the event with a time of 1:22.41, followed closely by his older brother Wade with a time of 1:22.45. In the women's race, Lindsey Kite pulled away for a victory with a PR time of 1:37.61.
UNI wrapped up the day with wins in the 4X400 meter relay with the men turning in a time of 3:25.43 and the women finishing in 3:55.72.
UNI will return to action on Jan. 23 when they travel to Ames, Iowa for the Big 4 Duals, hosted by Iowa State.
