UNI Swimming Dominates Loras, ICCC

Cedar Falls, Iowa— The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team continued action at home this afternoon against the Loras Duhawks and the Iowa Central Tritons. Action kicked off at 5 p.m.
The Panthers swam past the Duhawks and Tritons. The Panthers defeated the Duhawks 174 to 56 and the Tritons 169-78. The Panther women swept all of the events across the board. The Triton women defeated the Duhawk women, 142 to 92. The Duhawk and Triton men also competed with Tritons defeating the Duhawks, with a final of 193-58.
Strong performances came from Veronica Herrmann in the 100 butterfly, Molly Lembezeder in the mid-distance events and Aftin Phyfe in the 1.000 freestyle.
Junior Veronica Herrmann swam into first place in the 100 butterfly, Â a full two seconds ahead of her runner-up. Herrmann swam a time of 1:00.85. Herrmann got the chance to try a shorter race as her specialty is breaststroke/IM.
Sophomore Lembezeder, a designated sprinter for the Panthers, performed exceptionally well in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle races, taking first in both events. Lembezeder swam a 1:54.72 in the 200 freestyle and a 5:15.00 in the 500 freestyle, taking first in both events.
Phyfe, a junior, showed she is a jack of all trades. Phyfe competed in the 1,000 freestyle and easily grabbed the first place spot. Phyfe swam a time 10:52.79 in the event.
"Tonight was about performance," said head coach Doug Humphrey. "The girls were outside of their specialties and did very well."

The Panthers continue action at home 1 p.m. Nov. 14. The Panthers compete against the Nebraska-Omaha Durangos.
