Panther Men and Women Both Take Third Place at Tom Botts Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Northern Iowa men's and women's track teams wrapped up competition at the Tom Botts Invitational Saturday, hosted by the University of Missouri. In the scored meet, the Panther men and women each took third place, with the women scoring 163 points and the men scoring 183 points. Host Missouri won both the men's and women's competition.
Holli Hosch recorded a career-best outdoor time in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:11.11 to take third place. Molly Cashman finished in sixth place with a time of 2:15.61.
Sam Cameron took runner-up honors in the 400 meters, crossing in 56.49. Michaela Brungardt (57.54) and Ellen Kindelsperger (57.95) took fifth and sixth, respectively.
Senior Caedryn Schrunk finished fourth in the 3000 meters, clocking in at 10:18.19. Scotti Schon finished seventh with a time of 10:29.79.
Shawn Shaddox and Emily McCarthy took fourth and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:05.26 and 1:05.62, respectively.
In the pole vault, Jamie Wieck finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-00 ½.
Courtney Landers took sixth with a toss of 162-05.
Emily Prinsen took top honors in the javelin with a heave of 133-02. Rachel VanderHolt finished third with a toss of 123-07.
Tim Johnson and Alvin Cole finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the 100-meter dash with times of 10.95 and 11.02.
Freshman Bryan Collins took third in the 400 meters with a time of 49.58 followed by Corey Albrecht in fifth (50.25).
Mike Craddick and Ryan Krogmann finished in fifth and eighth place in the 800 meters clocking in at 1:54.89 and 1:56.29, respectively.
In the distance races, Brady Fritz finished in third in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:56.43. Brett Egan took fifth in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:38.17.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Greg Offerman took runner-up honors with a time of 53.00. Channing Puls finished in 15:08 in the 110-meter hurdles for fourth place while Scott Lynn finished in seventh with a time of 15.58.
Mike Beese took the top two spots in the pole vault, clearing 15-07 and 15-01.
Justin Romero finished with runner-up honors in the shot put, tossing 53-03. Tanner Hurt finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 163-07.
The Panthers return to action next weekend, April 10, at the Jim Duncan Invitational hosted by Drake University.
