Nowak Sits in Fourth Place in Drake Relays Heptathlon

DES MOINES, Iowa – Sophomore Troy Bacon racked up 3,354 points.
In the women's heptathlon, Nowak clocked in a career-best 200-meter dash time in the final event of the day, crossing in 25.32, to pick up 858 points. Nowak best event of the day came in the first event, clocking in a time of 14.36 in the 100-meter hurdles to earn 928 points.
Nowak cleared 5-04 ¼ in the high jump for 771 points followed by a heave of 37-03 ¾ in the shot put for 619 points.
In the decathlon, Gooris recorded three season-bests in the five events, clocking in a season-best 100-meter dash time of 11.67 as well as shaving off nearly three seconds off his previous collegiate-best in the 400 meters, crossing in 51.89 to pick up 730 points. Gooris also improved upon his season-best in the long jump, leaping 21-02 to finish day one with 3,494 points.
Bacon recorded a 100 meter time of 11.48 to pick up 757 points followed by a leap of 20-02 ½ in the long jump. The sophomore then heaved 40-10 ½ in the shot put to pick up 634 points. Bacon wrapped up the day clearing 5-11 ½ in the high jump before running a 400 meter time of 52.42.
