UNI Women Set Sprint Medley Relay School Record at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's track quartet of Dani Stipe, Lindsay Gierke, Sam Cameron and Holli Hosch broke the UNI school record in the women's sprint medley relay Saturday at the 101st Drake Relays, clocking in at 3:53.51 and finishing fourth overall.
The previous sprint medley relay record was 3:54.17, set in 2000.
The men's sprint medley crew of Alvin Cole, Giorgio Giurdanella, Bryan Collins and Brady Fritz took sixth place, clocking in at 3:20.16.
Ellen Kindelsperger, Hosch, Michaela Brungardt and Cameron finished eighth in the 4x400 meter relay, clocking in a time of 3:40.36.
The men's shuttle hurdle relay team clocked in the third-fastest preliminary time (60.02) to advance to the finals. In the finals, the quartet of Mike Malone, Greg Offerman, Scott Lynn and Channing Puls clocked in at 60.51 to take fourth place.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Offerman clocked in a season-best 52.21, taking 12th place.
Julian Morris set a season-best in the high jump, clearing 6-11 ¾ to finish sixth.
The Panthers return to action next weekend heading to Iowa City, Iowa to take part in the Musco Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa Saturday, May 1.
NOTES: The Panther women set two school records at the Drake Relays this weekend, including the sprint medley relay set Saturday and Jenna Wexter tying the pole vault record Friday. In addition, the Panther women also recorded two other relay times that rank in the top five in UNI school history.
