CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI track and field team will kick off the final month of the indoor regular season this weekend with Panthers set to compete at Nebraska's Larry Sevigne Husker Invitational, as well as the Iowa State Classic in Ames.
Competition will begin at 11 a.m. in the Lied Recreation Athletic Center in Ames for the Iowa State Classic, while the Larry Sevigne Husker Invitational will start at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday and will continue through Saturday, resuming action at 10 a.m. CT.
The Panthers return to action after a strong weekend showing at Notre Dame and Wartburg a week ago, where they earned two event wins along with multiple career-bests, season-bests and a pair of school records being broken.
At the Meyo Classic in South Bend, Ameila Hill and Colin Lillie both set new 5,000-meter program records, with Lillie taking third place in the men's race in 14:20.39, while Hill finished in eighth in 16:38.92.
At the Friday Knight Lights in Waverly, Josey Dunbar and Maleah Walker earned first and second place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles finals as they both posted career-best times of 7.75 and 7.83 respectively. In the women's shot put, Brylie Lorence (45' 9 Âľ), Lexy Foster (44' 11 Âľ), and Lauren Kounkel (43' 4 ÂĽ) finished first, second and third respectively. Daniel Adams ran the 60-meter hurdles for the Panthers, where he earned a second-place finish in 8.34 seconds, with Colin Buch not far behind, finishing in 8.65 for a sixth-place finish.
Entering the weekend, Northern Iowa leads the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) in ten events:

- Women's 400m (Emma Randecker - 55.58)
- Women's 5,000m (Amelia Hill - 16:38.92)
- Women's 4x400m Relay (Joey Perry, Jersey Jones, Emma Randecker, Darci Wiseman - 3:40.87)
- Men's High Jump (Carter Morton - 7' ÂĽ)
- Women's Pole Vault (Erica Miner - 12' 10)
- Men's Long Jump (Carter Morton - 24' 8 ÂĽ)
- Women's Long Jump (Josey Dunbar - 37' 6 Âľ)
- Pentathlon (Joey Perry - 3,953 pts)
- Heptathlon (Carter Morton - 6,054 pts)
In addition to leading the conference in three events, Carter Morton also ranks fourth in Division I in the heptathlon, as well as 29th in the high jump.
