CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI track and field team heads into postseason competition beginning Sunday as the Panthers head to Indianapolis for the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Indoor Championship, hosted at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Competition is slated to begin at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday, with an 8:30 a.m. CT start time on Monday. Select coverage of the meet can be found on ESPN+.
The Panther men, who captured their 15th MVC indoor team title last year, were picked to repeat as conference champions by the league's head coaches. UNI's women's squad, which placed third at the 2025 MVC Indoor Championships, were picked to finish third this season behind Indiana State and Illinois State.
UNI enters the MVC Indoor Championships leading the conference in eight events, including 2025 NCAA All-American Carter Morton leading the MVC the heptathlon, high jump and long jump with Parker Kiewiet leading the league in the men's 200-meter dash. In women's action, the women's 4x400-meter relay team of Joey Perry, Jersey Jones, Emma Randecker and Darci Wiseman lead the conference as well, with Erica Miner leading in the pole vault, Josey Dunbar leading the long jump and Joey Perry the pentathlon.
Morton, who was named the Men's Most Valuable Athlete and Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the 2025 conference indoor championship meet, enters as the reigning champion in the high jump, triple jump and triple jump, notably seeking to become the MVC's first repeat high jump champion since 2017.
Josie Moreland also returns as the reigning MVC indoor champion in the women's high jump, leaping a season-best five feet, seven inches at the Jimmy Grant Alumni Invite in December. Moreland is seeking to become the first UNI high jumper to repeat in the event since Crystal Hanson won the event in 2007 and 2008.
