CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — With just two week to go until to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Outdoor Championships, the UNI track and field team will continue to sharpen its speed and skillset this weekend as the Panthers make the short trip down Interstate 380 to Iowa City for the Musco Twilight.
Competition is scheduled to begin with select field events on Friday, and again on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track, with athletes from Cornell (IA), Creighton, Drake, Iowa and North Dakota expected to compete.
The Panthers return to action after a jam-packed week of action at both the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open a week ago, where Northern Iowa captured a pair of event titles at both meets. Josie Moreland set a new career-best mark of 1.78 meters to win the women's high jump at Drake, while Katie Fare, the MVC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, won the women's shot put championship division with a 17.23-meter toss. Competing unattached, Carter Morton also broke UNI's 18-year old decathlon record with a 7,882-point performance.
At the Kip Janvrin Open, the Panthers notched 15 new career-best marks at Buxton Stadium in Indianola.Nathan Wilde dominated the men's hammer throw en route to a first-place finish, throwing for 59.26 meters, while Caden Ungs topped the podium in the men's high jump, leaping an even two meters flat.Â

- Men's 800m | Drake Hanson - 1:47.90
- Men's Shot Put | Carson Lienau - 18.66m
- Men's Javelin | Justice Miller - 65.30m
- Decathlon | Zack Butcher - 7,052 pts
- Women's 3,000m Steeplechase | Emma Hoins - 10:15.39
- Women's 4x100m Relay | Perry, Fusco, Williams, Jones - 40.75
- Women's Shot Put | Katie Fare - 17.23m
- Heptathlon | Joey Perry - 5,174 pts
