CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The beginning of UNI's 2025 outdoor track and field season continues this weekend as the Panthers make the short trip north to Waverly for the Wartburg Outdoor Select.
Competition is slated to begin at 2 p.m. CT on Friday afternoon at Walston-Hoover Stadium on the Wartburg campus, with Saturday's action schedule to get underway at 9 a.m. CT.
The majority of the Panther team will make its outdoor debut this season in Waverly after select athletes kicked off the outdoor season in both St. Louis and Pella. At the WashU Distance Carnival, UNI distance runners set a pair of new top-five times, headlined by Eden Mueller in the 10,000 meters (35:50) with the program's second-fastest time in history. Caleb Shumaker also notched the fifth-fastest time in team history in the men's 10,000-meter run (30:00).
Competing close to home at the Central Invitational, select Panther throwers showed their prowess with Katie Fare sweeping both the hammer throw (53.57m) and shot put (16.58m) events. Both Carson Lienau (53.73m) and Sebastian Swistak (51.88m) set new personal-best marks in the discus finishing first and second, while Kileigh Lachacz (48.58m) and Jorie Hanenburg (42.27m) also set new career-best marks in the hammer throw.Â
