
UNI tennis set for another weekend of competition

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team looks to spend another weekend on the road, heading to Grand Forks, North Dakota for matchups against Montana State and North Dakota. The Panthers are looking to bounce back after falling short against Western Illinois last weekend, 6-1.
Last weekend was highlighted by the senior duo Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso securing a 7-6 victory for the Panthers, which was the lone win in the match-up against the Leathernecks. Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic lost in a close match, falling 7-5 against Paige Grice and Mana Fawcett. Kanyanut Sudsaard and Lasya Mylavarapu fell to Lara Rossetto Diniz De Souza and Anna Trush, 6-2.
In singles, Mylavarapu gave the Panthers a straight set win over Trush, 6-3, 6-1, While Sudsaard, Zizek, and Raznatovic all dropped their singles matches by identical 6-3, 6-0 scores. Cardoso won her first set in singles, but ultimately fell in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7, as Darta fell 6-3,6-2.
UNI returns to action this Saturday as it takes on Montana State at 11:30 a.m. CT at the Choice Health & Fitness Center in Grand Forks, N.D. The Panthers will also take on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. CT.
