A full schedule of events can be found HERE.
Northern Iowa begins its 11th season under the leadership of Director of Track & Field Dave Paulsen, coming off a 2024-25 indoor season where the Panthers captured the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) men's team championship and placed third in the women's competition.
We're excited to get the season started with high expectations, said Coach Paulsen. We started training in September and a long time passes between competitions so we definitely wanted to get this one in before our athletes head home for the holiday break. It's a great opportunity to get our freshmen in uniform for the first time to see how they handle everything and the excitement around the first meet.
On the men's side, Carter Morton returns after a stellar indoor campaign last winter, capturing first-place finishes at the MVC Championships in the triple jump, high jump and long jump, while also qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a fifth-place finish and All-American honors in the heptathlon. UNI also returns 400-meter dash school record holder Parker Kiewiet as well as Luke Meyers and Tinashe Chigudu in the sprinting events, while thrower Spencer Kessel returns, holding the third-best indoor shot put mark in school history at 62' 1 ¼ inch (1.93m).
In women's competition, the Panthers return reigning MVC pentathlon champion Katy Stephens to the roster, along with distance runners Amelia Hill and Kendra Nissen after an active cross country season. In the hurdles, Paige Kisley, who ranks fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42 seconds, also returns for UNI.
A small group of Panthers opened the season for Northern Iowa last Saturday at the Frigid Bee Invite in Davenport in the men's 5,000-meter run, with Colin Lillie placing eighth (14:40.04), followed by Ethan Olds in 20th (15:15.51) and unattached runner Drew Dombrosky in 21st (15:31.41).
