UNI women's tennis: Raznatovic shines in collegiate debut

MINNEAPOLIS --- The UNI women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2024-25 season over the weekend in the Twin Cities, competing at the University of Minnesota's Gopher Invitational at the Baseline Tennis Center.
With a team that returns five players from a season ago with the addition of two freshmen, the Panthers saw strong early performances from its newcomers in Andjela Raznatovic and Abbie Peterson.
Raznatovic was the standout Panther performer over the weekend, securing two singles victories with wins over Katarina Curcic (South Dakota), 6-4, 6-4, as well as Luciana Mendoza (Marquette) by a 6-3, 6-1 score. Peterson also picked up a win in singles action against Honoka Yamashita (Milwaukee) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
 In doubles play, the senior duo of Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso would drop their first three matches together before grabbing a 6-4 win over Sylwia Mikos and Olivia Sylwia (Chicago). The Panther veterans closed out doubles action on Sunday with another win, coming by a 6-2 score over Selena Bird and Katarina Curcic (South Dakota). Kim Zizek, paired with Razantovic, also grabbed a 6-4 doubles victory on Saturday over Emma Jane Barclay and Elena Duva (Marquette).

UP NEXT
The Panthers return to action Oct. 4-6 at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Individual Championships in Chicago, hosted by UIC.
