CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI women's swimming and diving team has been recognized as one of College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams for the spring 2024 semester, as announced on Monday afternoon.
The Panthers posted a 3.69 semester grade-point average (GPA) during the previous semester, the fifth-highest semester GPA among all UNI athletic programs. Northern Iowa is one of six Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) institutions that sponsors women's swimming and diving to receive the honor, joining Missouri State, Indiana State, Southern Illinois, Illinois State and Valparaiso.
The CSCAA also recognizes individual Scholar All-American athletes for their academic achievements. Those selections are expected to be announced at a later date.
"The commitment to academic excellence shown by these teams is truly admirable. It's inspiring to see student-athletes excelling both in the pool and in their studies," said Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA. "The CSCAA takes great pride in acknowledging and celebrating the dedication and perseverance of these teams."
The Panthers recorded a 10-3 record in dual meets during the 2023-24 season, crowned two conference champions as part of a fifth-place team finish at the MVC Championships and sent one diver to compete in the NCAA Diving Zones.
