CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI swimming and diving team is set to begin postseason competition on Wednesday as the Panthers head to Evansville, Indiana, for the 2026 Missouri Valley (MVC) Championships at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.Â
Competition is set to start Wednesday and run through Saturday as the conference conducts both a combined men's and women's championship meet for the first time. Preliminary rounds will run beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT, followed by a final session each night starting at 5:30 p.m. CT. The full meet can be streamed on the MVC YouTube channel, with live swimming results available on the Meet Mobile app and Dive Meets. Click HERE to access the MVC Championship hub.
The pre-championship poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches and released by the league office on Monday, picked Indiana State to repeat as MVC champions with six first-place votes, followed by Southern Illinois in second, Missouri State in third and UIC in fourth.Â
The Panthers will return to the pool for the first time since late January when they captured seven first-place finishes at the Coyote Invite and two top placements at the UNO Diving Invite.Â
UNI returns several performers, including Morgan Meyer and Abby Lear, who were a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed first at last year's MVC Championship meet with a new conference record time. Meyer also placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle, while Sydney Aird returns for the 100-yard breaststroke, where she posted a top-15 finish at last year's championship. Elyse Brayton also returns for the Panthers after an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke last season.Â
On the boards, Erica Peters, Trista Thompson and Avery Hogan have led the Panthers this season, with Peters and Hogan both clinching spots in the NCAA Diving Zones competition taking place next month in College Station, Texas. Peters notched a personal-best of 283.30 in the three-meter to punch her ticket, with Hogan scoring a 272.60 in the one-meter to secure a spot. Thompson has consistently placed in the top-ten in competitions this season as well.Â
