Griffin Parker named UNI’s spring recipient of State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award

ST. LOUIS — UNI men's golfer Griffin Parker has been recognized for his off-the-course involvement on Wednesday afternoon by the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) as he was named one of 12 MVC student-athletes to be named spring recipients of the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award on Wednesday afternoon.

Selected by MVC Commissioner Jeff Jackson, each MVC institution sees one student-athlete recognized in the fall, winter and spring seasons for good academic standing and must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service. In total, 36 MVC student-athletes have now been honored throughout the 2023-24 athletic calendar.

Off the course, Parker, a redshirt senior from Waukee, Iowa, became the UNI men's golf team's first-ever three-time MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team honoree, as well as a two-time MVC Board of Directors, Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and Honor Roll recipient.

On the course, Parker recorded four top-ten finishes this season including a second-place finish at the Stampede at the Creek in early April with a career best round of 67 in the first round. He averaged a score of 73.4 over his 32 rounds this season including six rounds in the 60s and 25 in the 70s.
