UNI men’s golf secures runner-up finish at WIU Intercollegiate

SILVIS, Ill. --- The UNI men's golf team wrapped up play at the WIU Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, turning in their best finish of the season. The Panthers finished second in the field, marking a strong showing as they continue their spring slate. Indian Hills CC claimed the team title with a score of 840 (-12), while their own Miles Bollinger took home the individual title shooting 207 (-6).
Tanner Dinnebier led the Panther Pack, marking a career-best finish in second place, shooting a total score of 209 (-4). Dinnebier shot 76-69-64 in three rounds, while carding a new best low round score of 64 (-7) in round three and finishing with the second-lowest 18-hole score in program history behind JD Pollard's 63 in 2023-24. Dinnebier tallied 14 birdies over the two-day tournament, carding eight of those in round three. Freshman Anthony Galvin finished in a tie for 10th place, carding a new career-best finish. Galvin shot a score of 218 (+5) and set a new best low round score of 70 (-1), while also tallying five birdies.
Nile Petersen finished in 14th place, shooting 221 (+8). Petersen shot 73-75-73 and sank nine birdies, with four of those coming in round three. Cooper Hanson placed in a three-way tie for 19th place with a score of 225 (+12), finishing strong with a 72 (+1) in round three and tying the best low round score of his career. Drew Spooner finished in a three-way tie for 25th place, competing as an individual, shooting a score of 228 (+15). Spooner shot 78-77-73 and tied his best low round score of 73 (+2).
Calen Bishop finished in 31st place, carding a 231 (+18), carding a 74 (+3) in both rounds two and three, while sinking four birdies over the two-day tournament. Davis Tripp placed in a three-way tie for 43rd place, scoring 242 (+29) and shooting 81-83-78 to finish out the tournament for the Panthers.

The Panther men will stay in state as they head to the Hawkeye Invitational at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa, hosted by the University of Iowa.
