CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI tennis will resume Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) dual competition this weekend as the Panthers head east to take on the UIC Flames and Valparaiso Beacons.
First serve between the Panthers and Flames is set for 11 a.m. CT at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago on Saturday, and 10 a.m. CT at the Valpo Tennis Courts in northwest Indiana on Sunday morning.
Northern Iowa returns to action after dropping a pair of 7-0 duals last weekend at Drake and at home against Murray State with a shorthanded roster. UNI is 7-6 all-time against UIC after dropping a 6-1 dual to the Flames at home last spring in UIC first season in the MVC, while the all-time series with the Beacons is tied a 4-4 after a 4-3 Panther win last April.
Darta Dalecka continued to lead the Panthers with 13 singles victories this year, while Andrijana Brkic has notched 11.
UIC (6-10; 2-1 MVC) returns home after splitting a pair of road duals at Bradley and Illinois State last weekend. Picked fifth in the MVC's preseason poll, the Flames are led in singles by Camille Belberka and Analis Brlon, who have both won six matches each. Belberka and Tamara Malazonia meanwhile lead UIC with a 9-3 doubles record as a pairing.
Valparaiso (9-9; 0-3 MVC) also battled Bradley and Illinois State on the road last week, dropping both matchups with the Braves and Redbirds. Olivia Czerwonka leads the Beacons with a 22-6 singles record with Jolene Fernandes recording 15 singles victories. Czerwonka and her doubles partner Moira Silva have notched a 14-10 record as a pairing.
