UNI cross country: Panthers finish regular season at Bradley Pink Classic

PEORIA, Ill. — The UNI cross country team put together a strong performance on Friday afternoon as it competed at the Bradley Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University at the Newman Golf Course in central Illinois.
In a crowded field that featured four total races, the Panther men finished with a 16th place team finish in the red race, while the Panther women placed 14th in the red race. North Dakota State won the team title in the men's eight-kilometer, while Northwestern won the team title in the women's six-kilometer..
Crossing the finish line first for the Panther men in the red race was Caleb Shumaker in 18th place with a time of 24:16. Carson Owens followed in 54th place, clocking a career-best finishing time of 24:38. Also achieving a career-best time was Levi Hill (25:26) in 140th place.
Jack Bergman recorded a time of 25:36, completing the men's race in 165th place with Brady Griebel in 188th place (25:50). Setting another career-best time this season was Josh Gormley in a time of 26:24 with a 220th place finish. Drew Dombrosky rounded out the Panther men in the red 6K in 245th place (26:52), followed by Micah Rees with a 255th place finish (27:33).
Colin Lillie, meanwhile ran unattached for UNI in the men's white 8K race with a time of 27:00 flat.
The Northern Iowa women were represented in both the red and white 6K races. The red race included Emma Hoins, who finished in 52nd place in 21:23. Amelia Hill in 62nd with a career-best time of 21:30, followed by Melody Ochana in 72nd (21:39) and Eden Mueller in 101st place (21:57). Leah Klapatauskas (22:16) and Brooke O'Brien (22:30) both recorded career best times as they rounded out the UNI women in the red race in 135th and 152nd places respectively.
Lauren Klein represented the Panthers in the white 6K, crossing the finish line with a 35th place finish and a time of 23:11.

The Panthers will return to the course on Nov. 1 as they host the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. Competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT.
