CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI women's golf tees off its 2023-24 season bright and early on Sunday morning as the Panthers compete at Illinois State's Redbird Invite.
This year's tournament will include the first two rounds on Sunday in a 36-hole shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT. The final round will be played on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live results will be made available online through GolfGenius.
Set on the par-72, 6,093-yard D.A. Weibring Golf Club, this year's field includes 16 teams from around the Midwest, including six Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) opponents in Indiana State, Bradley, Drake, Evansville, Illinois State and Valparaiso. Other opponents will include Bowling Green, Eastern Illinois, Illinois Wesleyan, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, South Dakota State and St. Thomas.
The Panthers took 12th place at the Redbird Invite a year ago and return much of their core from the 2022-23 season. Anna Jensen, who posted a team-best 79.58 average score per round, shot a 77 in the opening round of last year's Redbird Invite, while McKenna Mallow returns after a strong freshman campaign where she averaged 81.50 per round in nine tournaments, and tied for first place as the Ozarks National Invitational.
Victoria Hualde returns for her junior season after a 79.58 average in 2022-23, headlined by a fourth place finish at the WIU Invite last spring, as Anna Nacos looks to start strong once again. Nacos opened last season with consecutive scores of 69 in the first two rounds of the Redbird Invite en route to a top-60 individual finish.
