UNI tennis drops 4-3 dual to SIU-Edwardsville

WATERLOO, Iowa --- Coming off a late victory on Friday night, UNI tennis came up just short on Sunday as the Panthers fell to the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE) Cougars by a score of 4-3 in dual meet competition.
Andrijana Brkic and Kim Zizek rallied to knock off Ameila Gorman and Margaux Guibal Britt in a 6-2 double win, while Thaissa Moreira and Issa Sullivan edged Caitlyn Sporing and Melissa Vizcardo 6-4, helping the Panther secure the team doubles point. Lorena Cardoso and Darta Dalecka would fall short in a 6-4 loss to Jill Lambrechts and Jordan Schifano.Â
Brkic picked up her 19th singles victory of the season with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Guibal Britt, while Zizek defeated Gorman in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. UNI would come up short in its four remaining singles matchups with Dalecka falling to Lambrechs, 6-2, 6-3, and Cardoso dropping a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Schifano. Moreira would struggle in a 6-0, 6-4 loss to Sporing, as Sullivan fell to Fabiola Perez, 6-3, 6-0.
