CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI tennis team will wrap up the fall portion of the 2023-24 season beginning on Friday as the Panthers head to Springfield, Missouri for the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Individual Championships, hosted at Missouri State's Cooper Tennis Complex.
The three-day event will include all nine teams from around the league and feature athletes competing in seven different singles flights, as well as three flights of doubles. Match draws have yet to be announced.
Through competitions this fall at Minnesota's Gopher Invite and Drake's Bulldog Classic, the Panthers have seen a number of early season standout performances. At the Bulldog Classic in Des Moines two weeks ago, Lorena Cardoso and Darta Dalecka both reached the championship match of their respective singles flights, while Issa Sullivan also earned multiple wins. Andrijana Brkic leads UNI in singles with a 4-1 record this fall, having won her first three matches at the Gopher Invite.
At last year's MVC Individual Tournament, also hosted by Missouri State, Brkic and Cardoso both went 2-1 in the respective flights, while Dalecka earned a second round win in the top singles bracket. Brkic would finish in third place in flight two singles, while Cardoso earned fifth place in flight three.
