UNI finishes 6th in 10 team field at Briar Ridge Country Club

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. --- UNI junior Anna Jensen finished with a team-best score of 154 (+1) as the Panther women's golf team took 6th place at the Briar Ridge Invitational on Monday afternoon.

Defending tournament champion Morehead State defended its title for a second consecutive year with a team score of 598, 9 strokes ahead of Western Michigan and Green Bay, who both tied for 2nd.

SECOND ROUND
After carding a 75 in Sunday's first round, Jensen shot a 79 on Monday with one birdie on the 5th hole. Allison Nuss recorded a 76 in Monday's second round, carding 3 birdies, including 2 on the front nine to finish in 22nd place and a score of 156. Anna Nacos tied for 47th alongside teammate Lily Bredemeier with a final total of 164. Nacos, who shot an 84 (+12) on Monday, sank a putt for birdie on the 18th hole, while Bredemeier shot par on 11 of 18 holes in the final round. McKenna Mallow rounded out the Panther field in a tie for 60th place with a second round score of 84, a two-shot improvement on her first round score to card a final total of 170.

FIRST ROUND
Junior Anna Jensen led the Panther women by carding a team-best 75 (+3) on Sunday with a pair of birdies on the front nine to finish the day tied for 8th place. Allison Nuss and Anna Nacos both shot 80 (+8) on the day to move into a tie for 38th place, with Nuss recording a birdie on the 16th hole. Nacos sank two birdies on the back nine on the 14th and 18th holes. Lily Bredemeier notched an 82 (+10) on day one, sitting in a tie for 44th after a birdie on the 12th hole, while McKenna Mallow recorded birdies on holes 5 and 15 for a first round score of 86 (+14), sitting in a tie for 64th on the leaderboard.

UP NEXT
The Panthers return to the links next Monday, Oct. 3-4 at the Big O Classic in Omaha, Neb., hosted by Creighton University at the Oak Hills Country Club.
