UNI softball vs. BradleyÂ
The Panthers will make the three and a half hour drive to Illinois for the last three games of the regular season against the Bradley Braves. When the two teams met in 2021, UNI were the victors in two of the three games after dropping the first game of the series. The Panthers hope to have a similar response to their first loss in a month after dropping a game to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday at Robinson- Dresser.
THE PANTHERS:
- The Panthers look to have their best MVC season record in a decade with two wins over the weekend. UNI's program best is 21 conference wins set in 2012. The 2022 roster is currently at 20 MVC wins.Â
-Â UNI added to their record season in home runs on Wednesday afternoon. Catcher Emmy Wells hit a long ball to left center for the Panthers 62nd homer of the season.Â
- Wells home run in the top of the second was also her 17th of the season. Wells leads the MVC in home runs and has tied former Panther Sammey Bunch for the second most home runs in a season in program history. Bunch also had 17 home runs in the 2019 season.Â
- Along with becoming the MVC leader in home runs, Wells homer on Wednesday put her at 0.41 home runs per game, good for 8th in the nation. Wells is also in the top 15 in the nation in home runs, and RBIs
THE BRAVES:
- Bradley enters their final home series of the year at 12-12 in the conference, good for sixth place. The Braves have the chance to move up to third if they either win one game in the series or Evansville to not sweep Indiana State in their series this weekend.Â
- The Braves have played a league-low 11 home games entering the final home series of the year. The Braves will have their fewest home games since going 3-10 in the first year at Petersen Hotels Field in 2017. In the past three seasons, Bradley has won the final home series.Â
- Bradley leads the MVC in double plays this season with 19 on the year. The Braves also turned a rare triple play this past week in their series finale against the Missouri State Bears. Since Head Coach Amy Hayes took over the program in 2008, Bradley has had four seasons with 19 double plays or more.Â
- Bradley is led by freshman pitcher Abbott Badgley, who excels in both the circle and at the plate. Badgley was named MVC Newcomer of the Week in March with a .367 batting average and 65 hits on the season while having a 3.93 ERA while in the circle through 57 innings of work.Â
