UNI track and field at Musco Twilight

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI track and field stays in state to compete at the Musco Twilight Saturday. Competition is expected to get underway at noon.

UNI leads the Missouri Valley in six events and holds the top two marks in men's discus and the men's 200-meter dash.

ON THE MEN'S SIDE

Darius King opened his outdoor shot put season last weekend with a throw just off a career best. He leads the MVC and is No. 9 in the nation with a throw of 19.68 meters (64 feet, 7 inches). He was bumped to No. 2 in the Missouri Valley in the discus by teammate Tom Yezek. The two Panthers hold the top marks with throws of 56.11 meters (184-1) and 53.88 meters (176-9), respectively.

Isaiah Trousil holds the fastest time in the league in the 100-meter dash (10.25) and the 200-meter dash (20.73). Teammate Parker Kiewiet sits right behind Trousil in the 200-meter dash for the second fastest time in the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.13.

Trousil and Kiewiet joined Michael Santi and Tayshaun Cooper to hold the fastest 4x100 relay time of 40.41 seconds.

ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE

Paishence Johnson leads the Valley in the 100-meter dash. She is also part of the 4x100 team that holds the third fastest relay time in the league. Rylan Santi, Jill Bennett, Libby Wedewer and Johnson opened the outdoor season with a 45.93 seconds.

Katie Nimrod holds the third fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles. She ran a season best last weekend to win the Jim Duncan Invitational in 1:02.85.

Rylie Todd is also coming off a season best at the Jim Duncan Invitational. Her win of 1.67 meters (5-5.75) is the third best mark in the MVC.
