UNI track and field sends two ahletes to NCAA Indoor National Championships

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI Track and Field sends two athletes to compete at the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Indoor National Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.Â
Isaiah Trousil punched his ticket to the National Indoor Championships after his performance in the men's 200 meter dash stopping the clock at 20.72 seconds. Trousil set a personal best, UNI best, Missouri Valley Conference, and facility record at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships last week with the 20.72 mark. Trousil comes into the competition at 14th in the nation, tying Alaba Akintola of Middle Tennessee State University. The Senior is set to compete in the semifinal round of the 200 meter dash on Friday March 11th at 5:25 p.m. CT. The finals for the men's 200 meter dash will commence on Saturday March 12th at 4:50 p.m. CT.
Darius King is set to make his third national championships appearance in the shot put with his mark of 20.30 meters set at the Wisconsin Badger Invitational earlier this season. The two time All - American enters the competition at sixth in the nation with this toss. King's last appearance at the 2021 NCAA indoor championships earned him 12th place with a toss of 18.96 meters. King finished seventh in the 2021 NCAA outdoor championships with a toss of 19.69 meters. The graduate student was then invited to participate in the 2020 Olympic Trials finishing 12th with a toss of 18.43 meters. King will compete in the preliminary and finals of the shot put on Saturday March 12th at 4:00 p.m. CT.Â
