THIS WEEK (2/9-2/15)
UNI Track & Field head to Ames, Iowa for the ISU Classic Feb. 14 - 15. The ISU Classic is an invitation only meet consisting solely of Division 1 teams.
Events start on Feb. 14 at noon with men's long jump and women's 60-meter preliminaries. Events continue on Feb. 15 at noon with men's triple jump and women's 60-meter hurdle preliminaries. MVC HONORS (2/4)
Two athletes earned their second MVC Athlete of the Week honors this season following the Black and Gold Invite in Iowa City on Jan 31.Â
Isaiah Trousil earned the honor with a second place finish in the 200-meter dash with a personal time of 21.35. He holds the fastest time in the MVC in the 200-meter dash and the second fastest in the 60-meter dash.
Darius King earned the honor with a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 18.37m and a third place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 18.32m. He is currently ranked first in the MVC for shotput and third for weight throw.Â
SPLIT WEEKEND RECAP (2/7-2/8)
Last weekend was a rest weekend for the team with the exception of the men's and women's throwers and a handful of men's middle distance runners. The throwers traveled to Nebraska for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite and the middle distance runners went to Indiana for the Meyo Invitational.Â
UNI finished four in the top-10 for men's shot put, led by a second place finish by King with a distance of 19.21m. Alanna Nietert earned a first place finish in the women's weight throw with a distance of 18.84m.
At the Meyo Invitational, CJ May ran a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:12.10 putting him into third in the MVC rankings. Wal Khat also joined May in the rankings at 12th in the mile after running a time of 4:14.16.
