
Panthers Open Drake Relays Wednesday with Multi-events

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field opens action at the Drake Relays with the multi-events. Austin Heitland will participate in the decathlon while Erica Loussaert and Brooke Lorenz will participate in the heptathlon.
It will be the first multi-event competition of the season for the Panthers.
A season ago, Lorenz finished second at the Drake Relays with a score of 4,857. She finished second in the high jump, the 200-meter dash and the long jump.
Loussaert finished fourth at the 2018 Drake Relays with a score of 4,704. She won the javelin with a throw of 119-feet-0 and was third in the high jump.
Heitland, finished third in the Drake Relays last year with a final score of 6,667. He was first in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. He was also third in the shot put and the 1,500-meter run.
All three UNI athletes scored points in the multi-events at the 2018 MVC championship. Heitland finished second, Lorenz finished fourth and Loussaert was eighth.
The events begin Wednesday with the decathlon starting at 11:30 a.m. with the 100-meter dash and the heptathlon beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the 100-meter hurdles. The second day begins at 10:30 a.m. with the decathlon 110-meter hurdles and the heptathlon opens at 11 a.m. with the long jump.
