Â
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI softball hosts the Drake Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 23 for a single-game matchup at the Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex. The game is set for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch start time.
Against Drake, UNI is 70-54 in the all-time series. The last UNI victory over Drake came in 2017, in a 5-2 win at home. Prior to being swept by the Bulldogs in three games last season, the Panthers had won six straight head-to-head matchups.
The Panthers are now on a five-game losing streak to the Bulldogs. Under head coach Ryan Jacobs, the team is 15-18 against Drake.
Ashley Chesser enters the game coming off of a weekend where she hit three home runs and drove in seven runs, against the Bradley Braves. The three home runs extends Chesser's career-high for home runs in a season, as she now has 11 in 2019.
Jaclyn Spencer struck out 19 batters in a little over 11 innings against Bradley this past weekend and picked up two pitching victories. Spencer is now tied for the team lead with six pitching wins and has the lowest ERA on the team (2.83).
Following their mid-week showdown with the Bulldogs, UNI will stay in Cedar Falls as the team welcomes the Southern Illinois Salukis to town. This will be the final home series for the Panthers, but UNI is still slated for one more home game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
