Softball Goes 2-0 Against Evansville

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI wins both games in double header against Evansville.
Northern Iowa vs. Evansville  | Final Score - W, 11-6
Emma Olejniczak was the starting pitcher for the Panthers in the first game of the double header against Evansville. Olejniczak pitched three innings for the Panthers. Olejniczak allowed five hits, six runs, and had three strikeouts.
Erica Oler came in to pitch after Emma Olejniczak. Oler pitched four innings allowing three hits, zero runs, and had six strikeouts.
The Panthers scored in every inning except for two. Evansville started the game by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. UNI answered quickly with two of their own in the first and three more in the bottom of the second.
The three runs in the second inning came on a Sammey Bunch three run home run. Bunch didn't wait long to take action, hitting a homerun on the first pitch of her second at bat.
In the top of the third, Evansville loaded the bases with two outs. The Purple Aces hit a homerun to take the lead by one run, 6-5.
UNI would not score again until the bottom of the fifth. The Panthers scored five runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Olivia Brooks, RBI double by Sammey Bunch, and a homerun by Courtney Krodinger.
The Panther would not allow another run scored by Evansville and win the contest 11-6.

Jaclyn Spencer started game two of the double header and picked up the three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.Â
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Courtney Krodinger sacrifice fly ball that allowed Olivia Brooks to score.
UNI did not score in the second inning but would score in every inning after that. In the third inning, UNI added three more runs on Sammey Bunch's second home run of the day.
In the fourth inning, the Panthers scored on an RBI single by Sammey Bunch and an RBI groundout by Adara Opiola.
Jaclyn Spencer started the fifth inning on a solo homerun. The Panthers continued to put runners on base eventually having the bases loaded.
Adara Opiola ended the game on a base hit to left center that scored Hannah Kelley. The game ended via the run rule of eight runs after five innings. Â
