RESULTS

AMES, Iowa – UNI Track and Field concluded a successful weekend at the elite Iowa State Classic at the Leid Rec Center in Ames with 45 top eight finishes and wins by Maddie McCalla in the 400m and Evan Long in the 200m. The men's 4x400-meter relay team took second by less than a 100th of a second to Minnesota but improved its MVC best time in the process.

Tayshaun Cooper finished second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.88 and Ben Daumueller was third in the 600m with a time of 1:13.57. Connor Ham and Cole Phillips went 2-3 in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 8.13 and 8.24 respectively.

In the men's field events, Cam Bauer finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 14-11 and third in the long jump with a leap of 43-7. Chase Van Sant finished third in the Long Jump with a leap of 22-9.75. The UNI shot put squad continued to perform at a high level. Keegan Tritle took second with a season-high toss of 60-5.25. Darius King finished fourth (58-11.25), Isaac Holtz was fifth (56-8) and Tom Yexek was sixth (55-7). Holtz threw a season-high 58-10.75 in the weight throw to finish second.

On the women's side, McCalla took second in the 200 with a mark of 24:67 while Taylor Raines finished third with a personal best time of 25:08.

McKayla Cole finished 14th in the incredibly deep 5k field with a personal best time of 17:01.38. The time moved her to fourth in the MVC rankings.

Allison Griffin set a PR by almost two feet to earn a second-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 59-9.75.

UP NEXT: The Panthers travel to the Wisconsin Shell Shocker Classic on Friday, Feb. 15 for the final meet of the regular season. The MVC Championship is slated for Feb. 23-24 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
