Men's and Women's Golf Sign Four

Cedar Falls, Iowa - The UNI men's golf team signed three recruits, and the women's golf team signed one recruit to a national letter of intent. UNI welcomes Connor Van Weelden, Jack Moody, Thomas Storbeck, and Lily Bredemeier.

Connor Van Weelden, Ames, Iowa

Connor Van Weelden is a golfer out of Ames High School. Connor's individual athletic honors include: All Conference sophomore, junior, and senior years, 1st Team All State in 10th grade, 2nd Team All State in 11th and 12th grade, 2nd Team All Tournament Team in 10th and 12th grade, 7th place medalist in the State Tournament in 12th grade, and was awarded the Turk Bowman Award. Van Weelden's team accomplishments include: winning districts in 10th grade, placing 2nd in 11th grade, and placing 3rd in Districts his senior year. Academically, Connor was a 4 year Honor Roll Student, lettered academically all 4 years for golf, and was awarded academic honors in 11th and 12th grade for having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Van Weelden's 18 hole scoring average is 75.23. He is the son of Dan and LuAnn Van Weelden, and has an older sibling, Olivia who is 22 years old.

Jack Moody, Cedar Falls, Iowa

Jack Moody is a golfer out of Cedar Falls High School. Moody earned 1st Team All-Conference and All Metro honors in 2018, and earned 1st Team All-State, Elite All State, Athlete of the Year, All-Conference, Metro Champion, Conference Champion, and Team Captain in 2019. Jack helped lead his team to win two Conference Championships, three District Championships, and the lowest team scoring average in school history. Moody's combined 9 and 18 hole adjusted scoring average is 37.22, the third best in 4A. Moody has life long ties to UNI as his great grandfather was a former UNI basketball and golf coach. Jack is the son of Tom and Brigid Moody and has two older siblings, Shannon (24) and Kate (21).

Thomas Storbeck, Ventura, Iowa

Thomas is a golfer out of Clear Lake High School. Thomas is transferring from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Storbeck has earned individual athletic honors in golf, earning First-team all conference twice, First-team All-State twice, two time Second-team All-tournament team, 2017 Class 2A State Champions, and 2017 Class 1A Co-Ed State Champion with current UNI golfer, Emily Snelling. Storbeck has family ties with UNI as his dad Bob was a linebacker in 1983-86, and his brother Tate who is currently a tight end for the football team. Thomas has two siblings, Tanner (22) and Tate (18). He is the son of Bob and Rebecca Storbeck.

Lily Bredemeier, Grand Forks, North Dakota

Lily is a golfer out of Red River High School. Lily has earned East Region Champion in 2018 and 2019, All EDC in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, All-State in 2017, 2018, and 2019, All EDC Tournament in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, All State Tournament in 2017, 2018, and 2019, North Dakota Class A Girl's Golf Senior of the Year in 2019, Hometown Star in 2019, has 38 career top ten finishes, is a 5-time individual medalist, and was named Team Captain in 2019. Bredemeier helped lead her team to win a Team State Championship in 2017 and EDC Team Championship in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Lily academic honors include being on the A Honor Roll 2016-2020. Bredemeier has a 81.3 scoring average. Lily is the daughter of Matthew and Michelle Bredemeier.
