No. 14 UNI Hosts South Dakota

The Panthers return home to the UNI-Dome where they are 3-0 on the year. UNI is 3-3 after a tough loss to No. 1 North Dakota State in Fargo. According to Massey Ratings, UNI has faced the toughest schedule to date in the FCS. The Panthers host a South Dakota team who is 3-3 on the year, but 3-0 in the last three games. The game is the 50th in the series and UNI leads 29-19-1, including an 8-2 record since South Dakota joined the ranks of Division I.Â

 •The Panther went into halftime of last week's meeting with the top-ranked Bison trailing 18-14, but early mistakes in the second half led to NDSU opening up a big lead en route to the 46-14 win. Isaiah Weston notched 129 receiving yards and a touchdown and Tyler Hoosman rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown. Chris Kolarevic tallied 10 tackles and a 40-yard fumble return.Â

 • The win over Southern Utah was Head coach Mark Farley's 150th career victory.  He is the winningest coach in UNI and Missouri Valley Football History and the 10th coach in FCS history with 150 FCS victories.Â
 • The UNI defense is proving to be one the best in the FCS. UNI is ninth in 21st in total defense, 30th in scoring defense, 13th in sacks and 31st in first down defense.Â

 • After being named the STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week in week one, Matthew Cook remains perfect at 9-11 on the season. He is also 14-14 in PATs for a team-high 41 points. He is 3-4 on the year on field goals over 40 yards.Â
• The Panthers have earned a Missouri Valley Player of the Week honor after five of six games this season. Cook was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after the Iowa State game, McElvain earned Newcomer of the Week honors after the Southern Utah game and Elerson G. Smith was named the Defensive Player of the Week after the Idaho State win and again after the Youngstown State victory. Against Weber State, McElvain earned his second newcomer of the Week honor and Chris Kolarevic picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors.
