UNI Track and Field Hosts Jennett, Travels to Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI track and field team will host the Jack Jennett Open Friday before traveling to the Black & Gold Premier at the University of Iowa Saturday.Â
Friday's meet will include a handful of junior colleges, DIII and NAIA schools. Saturday, the Panthers will compete with the Iowa, Boston College, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Loyola, Marquette, and South Florida.
UNI comes into the weekend with 10 athletes sitting in the top 75 in the NCAA and 85 performances in the top 20 in the MVC.Â
Thrower Keegan Tritle has the highest ranked mark in the NCAA for UNI with a toss of 60-3.75 in the shot put. He is currently second in the MVC. Connor Ham has the top mark in the 60-hurdles with a time of 7.97.Â
On the women's side, Maddie McCalla is first in the MVC in the 400m dash with a time of 55.57 and second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.44.Â
Friday's meet begins with field events beginning at 11:15 a.m. and track events beginning at 2:30 p.m. The final track event is slated for 5:30 p.m.Â
Saturday's trip to Iowa City replaces the Mark Messersmith Invite which was scheduled to take place at the UNI-Dome on the same day. Instead, the Panthers will compete at Iowa City with the elite field of teams.Â
The schedule for the Black & Gold Premier meet will begin with the field events at 11 a.m. and the running events at 2 p.m. The meet is scheduled to conclude at 7:30.Â
