Throwers Shine for UNI at Frank Sevigne Invitational

LINCOLN, Nebraska/SOUTH BEND, Indiana – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program concluded weekend competition at the Frank Sevigne and Meyo Invitationals on Saturday, as the Panthers turned in an impressive showing in the shot put.
UNI's throwers earned three Top-10 finishes at the Frank Sevigne shot put, with Isaac Holtz earning the highest mark after claiming third place in the event. Fellow Panther throwers Darius King (7th) and Keegan Tritle (8th) also finished in the Top-10 on Saturday. Holtz's mark of 58-05.75 and King's throw of 57-02.75 were personal records for each Panther.
In track action, the team of Sven Van Den Bergh, Jacob Smith, Jojo Frost and Evan Long finished runner-up in the 4x400 relay after posting a time of 3:11.46. Senior Kassidy Sharp earned seventh overall in the high jump on Saturday to round out competition in Lincoln and represent the Panther women. This season, Sharp has finished in the Top-10 in all five high jump events she has competed in.
At the Meyo Invitational, the Panthers had two Top-10 finishes, both coming in the 800-meter. Brette Correy finished fourth overall after posting a time of 2:07.26, while Jordan Pingel earned eighth overall for the men after running a time of 1:51.98.

The Panthers will stay on the road next weekend, as UNI competes in the ISU Classic and SDSU Indoor Classic on Feb. 9-10.
