The Panthers made an early run on the Fighting Hawks, leading 14-5 after the first six minutes of play. A game that looked to become a blowout victory quickly flipped scripts.
The Panthers had multiple players in foul trouble in the later parts of the first half, giving North Dakota 20 free throw attempts which they converted into 14 points. While making 12 field goals in the first half, including seven three-pointers, the Panthers only led the Fighting Hawks 32-29 at the half.
The second half was an exciting back and forth. The second half alone saw eight lead changes and tied five times. The excitement only grew in the final minutes.
AJ Green stepped to the line with seven seconds remaining for two shots, the freshman guard made them both put the Panthers up 64-60. North Dakota went right down the court and hit a layup to cut the lead to two, but after the Panthers failed to inbound the ball North Dakota had one final attempt to win the game with less than two seconds remaining. The Fighting Hawks were unable to inbound the ball, instead turning the ball over to Isiah Brown who secured the ball to give the Panthers their first victory in since December 8.
