Eight Records Fall for UNI Swim and Dive

TOPEKA, Kansas— Eight school records fell as the UNI swimming and diving team competed at the Kansas Classic this weekend.
Katie Taylor added her fourth first-place finish in the 200 backstroke, timing in at one minute, fifty-six seconds, and thirty-seven hundredths of a second (1:56.37). Taylor reset the school record in the event.
Crystal Florman erased the school record in the 100 freestyle, timing in at 49.85.
Moriah Ross set a new school record in the 200 breaststroke, timing in at 2:13.09. Ross's time is good for an NCAA B cut.
Taylor, Florman, Ross, and Abby Meyer swam into third place in the 400 freestyle relay, timing in at 3:25.13.
Kylie Engstrom timed in at 17:08.43 in the 1650 freestyle for a top 10 finish.
In the B final of the 200 backstroke, Madison Rinaldi timed in at 2:05.33. Jordan McCullough timed in at 2:07.78.
Meyer timed in at 52.21 in the B final of the 100 freestyle.
Anika Lillegard-Bouton, Lauren Vilims, and McCullough had top 15 finishes in the 1650 freestyle. Lillegard-Bouton timed in at 17:48.95. Vilims clocked in at 17:50.47, while McCullough rounded the group out at 17:54.81. Â
Alivia Soares swam a 2:26.20 in the B final of the 200 breaststroke. Vilims would compete in the 200 breaststroke event, timing in at 2.27.71.
Sam Galvin and Khya Barkema competed in the 1650 freestyle, swimming times of 18:25.25 and 18:41.30 respectively.
It was a Panther heat in the D final of the 200 butterfly, as Kelsey Ostrowski, Rachelle Houlette, Emma Baertlein and Soares competed. Ostrowski led the pack, swimming a 2:10.23. Houlette timed in at 2:12.73. Baertlein swam a 2:14.39, while Soares clocked in at 2:15.41.
Natalie Nelson and Ashleigh Houlette represented the Panthers in the D final of the 100 freestyle, timing in at 53.56 and 53.64 respectively.
In the D final of the 200 backstroke, Baertlein timed in at 2:14.35.
Lillegard-Bouton and Anna Wall competed in the 200 butterfly D final, swimming a 2:15.52 and 2:27 in the event. Â
Invite Honors
Florman and Taylor were named to the Kansas Classic All-Invite Team after being the top scorers for their team.
