UNI Soccer Opens Season Sunday

Cedar Falls--The University of Northern Iowa is poised to open the 2017 season, traveling to Chicago State on Aug. 20 for a 1 p.m. match-up.

The Panthers, who finished last season with an 8-8-3 record, return nine starters from the 2016 season. The 2016 season saw single-season school records set in points (67), goals (27), goals per game (1.42), shots (250) and shutouts (7).

"We are excited to start the season," remarked head coach Bruce Erickson. "We are continuing to get healthy and the girls are ready to play."

The Panthers were picked to finish in a tie for fifth by the MVC coaches, with senior Sarah Brandt being named to the pre-season all-Conference team.
