Panthers Return Home for Sunday Tilt

UNI GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – After nearly a month away from the McLeod Center, the University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team (2-6) returns home to face Wisconsin Parkside (4-8) Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
Sunday's game against the Rangers will kickoff a two-game home stretch, with the Panthers hosting Iowa next Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.

- UNI returns home after nearly a month away from the McLeod Center.

- Sunday's game will mark the second game all-time against UW-Parkside, with the Panthers owning a 1-0 mark after scoring a 72-57 victory against the Div. II foe.
- This season, UNI has held five teams under 60 points.
- Sophomore Megan Maahs tops the MVC in rebounds per game (10.8), while ranking 24th in the NCAA.
- The sophomore's 8.0 defensive rebounds per game ranks first in the MVC and is 10th in the NCAA.
- Sophomore Rose Simon-Ressler earned a career-high 18 points last time out in her first start as a Panther.

- The Panthers and Rangers have met only one time on the hardwood, with UNI taking a 72-57 decision over UW-Parkside last season at home
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
- UW-Parkside finished last season with a 10-17 mark under head coach Jacob Yorg.
- This season, the Rangers are off to a sluggish 4-8 start, but have won three out of their last four games to gain momentum heading into December.
- The Panthers will be UW-Parkside's first Div. I opponent of the season.
- Ali Bettencourt leads the Rangers with 14.5 points per game this season, while averaging 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists a contest.
- Bettencourt earned a season-high 23 points against Cedarville (Ohio) on Nov. 11 after shooting 7-of-17 from the floor and 6-of-11 from 3-point range.
DEFENDERS OF WARREN
- UNI is 134-20 under the direction of head coach Tanya Warren when holding an opponent to 60 points or less.
- Five of UNI's top-10 scoring defense averages in school history have come during the Warren era, while the Panthers ranked second in the Valley last season after holding opponents to 58.3 points per game.
- UNI was 19-0 in 2016-17 when holding foes to 60 points or less, so far this season the Panthers are 2-3.
PANTHER SHARP SHOOTERS
- UNI has knocked down 51-of-181 (28.2%) from 3-point land this season.
- The Panthers are averaging 6.4 made 3-pointers a game.
- Last season, the Panthers shot 250-848 (29.5%) from beyond the arc to average 7.6 made 3-pointers a game.
- Kennedy Kirkpatrick leads UNI with the most made 3-pointers on the team this season, knocking down nine shots from beyond-the-arc.
UNI CONTROLS THE GLASS
- This season, the Panthers rank third in the MVC with 2.4 rebounding margin over opponents.
- UNI has out rebounded five foes this season, with the highest margin of 18 coming against Wyoming earlier in November.
- The Panthers are averaging 39.4 rebounds per contest, which ranks second in the MVC.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
- Sophomore Megan Maahs turned in quite the performance to open the season, as she averages 10.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game for the Panthers.
- Maahs is the only Panther to record a double-double for UNI this season, logging three on the year.
- For her career, Maahs has earned four double-doubles as a Panther. The sophomore has earned the last four double-doubles for UNI.
- The sophomore is tied for 10th in the nation with 8.0 defensive rebounds per game, while ranking 24th in the NCAA for total rebounds per contest at 10.8.
- In the MVC, Maahs tops the league this season in rebounds per game (10.8), defensive rebounds per game (8.0) and most double-doubles (3).
KIRKPATRICK LOGS CAREER-HIGHS
- Kennedy Kirkpatrick has scored in double-digits in five games this season.
- The senior scored 21 against North Dakota in a losing effort, setting her latest career-high for points this season.
- Kirkpatrick set previous career-highs in back-to-back games after scoring 15 in the season-opener and then 17 as a follow-up against Iowa State.
- Against Creighton, Kirkpatrick set a career-high for assists after dishing out nine.
RUCKER'S BREAKOUT
- In the absence of Ellie Howell and Kennedy Kirkpatrick in UNI's exhibition contest against Sioux Falls, freshman Karli Rucker scored 15 points while adding six rebounds and six assists.
- The freshman only scored one point in her first two regular season games, but had a breakout performance against Creighton with seven points on 3-of-6 shooting.
- Rucker's latest breakthrough was against UNO as the freshman scored 13 points against the Mavs after shooting 5-of-10 from the floor.
