ST. LOUIS — Panther women's basketball athlete Kaylynn Janes was recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) on Friday afternoon as one of 11 student-athletes from around the league to receive the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award for the 2025-26 winter sports season.
The winners, selected by MVC Commissioner Jeff Jackson, are recognized for good academic standing through the demonstration of sportsmanship and other significant community service. In total 33 MVC student-athletes are honored during the school year, one from each conference institution for the fall, winter and spring seasons.
Janes, a 5-11 sophomore guard from St. Louis, Missouri, is majoring in Kinesiology (Exercise Sciences) with a minor in Coaching and Sports Administration, and has maintained a 3.93 GPA while earning consistent academic honors, including multiple Dean's List selections and recognition on the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll and Scholar-Athlete team.
Actively involved on campus, Janes has served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) since 2024. Beyond academics and athletics, she coaches and trains youth basketball players across Iowa and volunteers at numerous university and local events, including UNI Women's Basketball charity initiatives, community fundraisers, church dinners, nursing home programs, and outreach efforts such as House of Hope and campus-wide service events.
