CEDAR FALLS--The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team will host senior day on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, when Illinois State Redbirds comes to town.
Action is slated to start at 5 p.m. in the Glen F. Henry Pool on the campus of UNI. Admission is free to the meet.
Â
The Panthers will honor nine seniors before the meet starts. Head coach Doug Humphrey commented on the nine seniors with fond memories.
Â
"This group of seniors is an exceptional group of young women. This class was my first recruiting class at UNI and they all chose to be a part of this team based on an idea and a dream. Â We wanted to make UNI better than it had ever been. Â This class set the foundation for success that will lead us for years to come. Â Their individual gifts, talents, and character created the mold of what a UNI swimmer and diver really is. Â This class has rewritten the record books and set this program moving to new heights."
Â
Last Year against the Redbirds
Â
The University of Northern Iowa's women's swimming and diving team swam past MVC opponent Illinois State. This was the first win for the Panther squad over Illinois State since the 2004-05 season. Veronica Herrmann, Molly Lembezeder, Crystal Florman and Autumn Roepsch are just a few of the Panthers that had strong performances a year ago.
Â
Last Time in Action
Â
The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team defeated both the Iowa Central Tritons, and the Loras College Duhawks on January 13. Katie Taylor, Kylie Engstrom, Aftin Phyfe and Rachel Siebenaller are just a few of the Panthers that dominated in the pool.
