UNI Heads To Tom Botts Invitational

Meet Schedule
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa Track and Field program will look for more top performances this weekend as they continue the 2016 outdoor season at the Tom Botts Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
The meet will run April 15-16 at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium on the campus of the University of Missouri. The first day of competition will take place on Friday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. and will resume on Saturday, April 16 at 12 p.m.
UNI will take a full squad to Columbia this weekend after running through the competition at the Husker Spring Invitational, earning season-bests across the board.
Brandon Carnes opened his outdoor season at the Husker Invite, ranking himself No. 1 and No. 2 in the Missouri Valley Conference in the 200 and 100 meter dashes, respectively. His time of 21.00 in the 200 meters and 10.48 in the 100 meters also propelled him into 21st and 26th in the NCAA West Region.
Paige Knodle followed Carnes into the NCAA West rankings over the weekend, notching a season-best in the 100 meter hurdles that put her at No. 29 and No. 3 in the MVC. She won the race with a time of 13.65, beating her previous season-best of 13.71 that she posted at the Texas Relays.
In the field, UNI had three student-athletes move up in the regional rankings, with Shawn Koch, Justin Baker and Isaac Holtz all earning season or personal-bests at the Husker Invite.
Koch won the men's triple jump in Lincoln, leaping for a mark of 48-08.25 to rank him second in the conference. The mark also put him at No. 31 in the NCAA West Region after qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminary round in the triple jump last season.
Holtz scored a personal-best in the discus competition, going 179-01.00 for third overall, a No. 27 rank in the West region and the second-best throw in the MVC this year. Baker, who is already ranked in the top-10 in the West in the hammer throw, moved up the rankings in the shot put with his season-best toss of 58-05.75, landing at No. 30.
