UNI Falls in Rematch with Ole Miss, 1-0

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Northern Iowa softball team fell in their rematch with Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon, 1-0. The Panthers (11-5) recorded one hit in the pitchers' duel, as both teams combined for five hits on the day.
It was a pitching and defensive duel for the first three innings as both squads opened up the game with singles before being held hit-less until the bottom of the fourth inning. Chelsea Ross finished with a season-high 11 strikeouts, including back-to-back strikeouts to end the fourth inning with an Ole Miss runner in scoring position. Ross came up big in the sixth inning, striking out Rebels' Elantra Cox with two runners in scoring position to end the scoring threat.
Ole Miss put the only run of the game on the scoreboard in the sixth inning after a lead off single for the lone run of the afternoon.
UNI will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for their next tournament, beginning with a contest against Wright State on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
