UNI Shatters Records, Finishes Third At MVC

CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The University of Northern Iowa wrapped up conference action today at the MVC Championships. The Panthers came in third.
A new MVC record was set by Crystal Florman, Aftin Phyfe, Autumn Roepsch and Molly Lembezeder in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:23.56
Veronica Herrmann received a second B Cut today. Herrmann took first place in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:15.55, breaking her school record. Herrmann's two B Cut finals are the first in school history.
Aftin Phyfe broke her school record in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:03.12, coming in third.
Molly Lembezeder and Crystal Florman took first and second place in the 100 Freestyle. Lembezeder swam a 50.79 and Florman swam a 50.99.
Allie Bey took fourth place in the 3-meter diving finals. Sarah Kemp followed in fifth and Alyssa Deuso came in seventh.
Madison Rinaldi won the consolation final of the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:03.26. Sierra Sachtjen finished with a time of 2:05.22 in the consolation.
Olivia Knowles finished in the Top-8 of the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:26.95. Jill Georgen nabbed a new PR in the event with a time of 2:27.29.
Taylor Ostrowski nabbed a new PR in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:05.75, winning the consolation final.
"There are so many highlights from this week," said Head Coach Doug Humphrey. "The excitement from one event snowballed into all the events."

1st Team All Conference: Crystal Florman, Veronica Herrmann, Molly Lembezeder, Madison Rinaldi, Autumn Roepsch, Rachel Siebenaller, and Aftin Phyfe.
Honorable Mentions: Allie Bey, Stephanie Jackson, Sarah Kemp, Olivia Knowles, and Alyssa Deuso.
Coaches of the Year
Coach Doug Humphrey and Diving Coach Lori Meierbachtol received their respective Coach of the Year awards following the tournament.

Senior divers Allie Bey and Sarah Kemp head to the Zone "D" Diving Championships, March 7-9 in College Station, Texas.
