UNI Heads To Madison For Wisconsin Open

Meet Schedule
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program will travel to Madison, Wis. on Friday, Feb. 19 to compete in the Wisconsin Open.
The Wisconsin Open is UNI's final meet before they gear up for the MVC Championships, hosted in the UNI-Dome Feb. 27-28.
UNI is coming off competition at the Iowa State Classic where junior Kelsey Kirchoff captured another school record for the Panthers. Kirchoff competed in the 5,000 meters in Ames on Feb. 13, running a time of 16:52.61 to set a UNI record and rank herself in the top-five in the MVC.
Heading into the final weekend of regular season competition, UNI currently has 34 student-athletes ranked in the top-10 in the Valley in 22 events between the men's and women's programs. UNI has also had seven all-time list worthy marks this season, including two school records.
Brandon Carnes and Amber Clock are both sitting in first in their events, with Carnes landing at the top of the Valley in the 60 and 200 meter dashes and Clock running the fastest 800 meter time so far in the MVC this season. Carnes time of 6.64 in the 60 dash set a new school record while his PR time of 21.30 in the 200 meters moved him into second all-time at UNI. Clock also moved up the UNI all-time list in the 800 meters, ranking herself No. 2 with a career-best time of 2:07.94.
Corey Hertz joins Carnes in the top-five in the conference in the 200 meters after running a personal-best of 22.03 at the Mark Messersmith Invitational to rank him third. The Panthers also have a pair of athletes ranked fourth in the men's and women's 400 meters, with Brett McCalla and Maddie Beeler both looking to score at the conference meet.
In the men's 60 hurdles, UNI has four athletes ranked in the top-10 in the Valley, with Jon Rus leading the way with a time of 8.02. On the women's side, Paige Knodle is still holding strong with a No. 2 ranking after her career-best time of 8.41 also put her at No. 2 all-time at UNI.
Both 4X400 meter relay teams are ranked high in the MVC this season, with the men's team of McCalla, Evan Long, Hertz and Raheem Black running the fastest league time of 3:13.65 at the Iowa State Classic. The women's team is ranked third as well after their Iowa State Classic time of 3:46.70.
In the field, Shawn Koch has placed himself at No. 2 in the triple jump (48-7.50) and No. 3 in the long jump (24-0.75) after standout performances at the South Dakota State Holiday Invite and the Panther Open.
The Throws crew has shined this season for the Panthers with seven different athletes ranked in the top-10 in two events. Isaac Holtz and Jamie Lindstrom are ranked fourth in the men's shot put (55-2.75) and the women's weight throw (60-8.00) heading into this weekend while Brad Walski is sitting at No. 7 in the men's weight throw (59-11.75) and Lindstrom is No. 6 in the women's shot put (49-2.50).
The Wisconsin Open is set to start at 3 p.m. with field events on Friday followed by track events beginning at 3:30 p.m. Live results will be provided along with a full recap becoming available at www.UNIPanthers.com following the completion of the meet.
