Omaha, Nebraska--The UNI Swimming and Diving team came out of the Nebraska-Omaha Invitational, winning the event with 1,049 points.
The Panther squad took first, second, and third places in two events today. Autumn Roepsch would start the Panthers out in the 100 IM, timing in at fifty-eight seconds and seventy-three hundredths of a second. Katie Taylor would grab second place with 59.22 and Molly Lembezeder would round the Panthers out, timing in at 59.42.
Taylor would lead the pack in the 200 backstroke, timing in at 2:02.61. Aftin Phyfe would follow in second place, timing in at 2:04.51. Madison Rinaldi would time in at 2:05.98.
Rachel Siebenaller and Kylie Engstrom would take first and second places in the 1650 freestyle event. Siebenaller would swim a 17:29.26 and Engstrom would swim to a 17:34.14.
Veronica Herrmann would take first place in the 200 breaststroke, timing in at 2:21.31.
The Panthers would sweep the 100 freestyle events, taking first through sixth place. Lembezeder took first place, swimming a 50.88. Crystal Florman and Autumn Roepsch would follow, swimming respective times of 51.13 and 52.88. Jordan McCullough took fourth with a time of 53.13. Siebenaller would swim to a time of 54.24. Abby Meyer rounded out the group 54.35.
Stephanie Jackson would swim to a second place finish in the 200 butterfly, timing in at 2:07.95. Kelsey Ostrowski would take fourth place, swimming a 2:08.42.
Phyfe, Florman, Roepsch, and Lembezeder took first place in the 400 freestyle relay, timing at 3:25.07. McCullough, Meyer, Maya Appleton, and Siebenaller took third place in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming a 3:36.04.
"(We were) focused on being better than we have. (Competition) moved us forward with the rest of the season," said head coach Doug Humphrey after the meet. "We are right on track for where we want to be."
