
UNI Swimming and Diving Ready for UNO Invite

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa--After a record-breaking trip to the Kansas Big Challenge Invite, the UNI Swimming and Diving team hits the road for the University of Nebraska-Omaha Invite, Dec. 1-3.

This will be the Panthers third invitational this season and will meet the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks for a second time.

Action is slated to start at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the HPER Pool on the Nebraska-Omaha campus.

The Panthers swimming team competed at the Big Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas, Nov. 18-20.

Katie Taylor began shattering school records, starting with the 200 IM. Taylor had a time of 2:05.32. In the 200 backstroke, Taylor timed in at 2:01.25 to place a new school record. Taylor with a time of 4:25.33, broke the school record in the 400 IM. Taylor breaks the 100 backstroke record with a time of 56.65.

Taylor wasn't the only Panther having an outstanding weekend in Kansas. Molly Lembezeder nabbed a second place finish in the 50 freestyle, swimming a time of 23.39. Crystal Florman took fifth place in the same race, timing in at 23.60. Lembezeder and Florman would team up with Autumn Roepsch and Aftin Phyfe to take fourth in the 200 freestyle relay, timing in at 1:33.63. The UNI team was only a second behind Iowa State, who would take first place in the event.

Florman narrowly missed her own personal record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.40.

The Diving team headed to Illinois for the TYR Invite, hosted by Northwestern. Hannah Brummel led competition in the 1-meter diving, with a dive score of 180.55. Alyssa Deuso followed at 174 with Emma Billerbeck rounding out competition at 149 in the 1-meter competition. Brummel led the Panthers in the 3-meter diving competition, with a dive score of 198.75. Deuso followed at 186 and Billerbeck rounded out all scores with 153.10.
