Veteran and Team Captain, Aftin Phyfe, a junior, took home first place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle, and being the second leg of the winning 200 Freestyle. Aftin had this to say after the meet and getting ready for Iowa/Michigan State:
"I think we did amazing this meet and we were ready to go. We are going against two big, huge schools. The new swimmers are making a great impact on this team. We don't have team goals, but we have team expectations this year. We are all working so much harder."
Freshman Madison Rinaldi made a big splash her first time in the pool, taking home first place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. Rinaldi came within four seconds of the 200 IM school record and three seconds for the 100 Backstroke's record.
Senior diver Allie Bey took home the 1-meter dive. She said this of the diving this year and her experience last year, competing at the Zone-D Championships.
"It is fun competing with the level of girls there (Zone-D). We are going to try and get more people in the Top-8. We have always gotten everyone in the Top-16 at conference. I think we are going to try and continue to get the records of the record boards."
Sophomore Rachel Siebenaller made a splash last year in the pool and this meet was no different. Siebenaller took home first place finishes in the 1000 Freestyle and the 500 freestyle races. Siebenaller came close to shattering both records in the intra-squad meet today.
