Mavericks Out Swim Panthers, 170-128

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Northern Iowa Panthers fell short to the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, 170-128. The Panthers finished the night with three first-place finishes.
Chelsea Hartman was the top performer for the Panthers. She took first in both the 1,000 and 500 freestyle. Hartman finished the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:30.04. Her time places her fourth in the conference in the 1,000 freestyle. She finished the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:16.51.
Diver Bethany Olson took the top-spot in the 1-meter dive. She racked up 241.45 points to add nine points to the Panthers team score. Olson took second in the 3-meter dive with 233.15 points.
Rebecca Ortmann finished the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.67. Her time was good enough for second place.
Jaime Pearson took second in the 100 backstroke, followed by teammate Natalie Johnson. The dual finished with times of 1:02.25 and 1:03.03, respectively. Teammate Kelly McCullough took the runner-up spot in the 200 butterfly. McCullough finished with a time of 2:18.83.
Caryn Knight took the runner-up spot in the 100 breaststroke. She clocked in with a time of 1:09.81. Knight also took second in the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. She finished with times of 2:30.69 and 2:15.58, respectively.
Stephanie Frederick took second in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. She finished with a time of 24.90 in the 50 freestyle and 54.49 in the 100 freestyle.
The 200 medley relay team took second with a time of 1:53.95. The relay team consisted of Jody Petersen, Knight, Pearson and Frederick.
The Panthers next action comes on Jan. 22 at Kansas. The Panthers will take on the Jayhawks and the Coyotes of South Dakota. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m.
