
UNI Tops South Dakota, Falls To Kansas

LAWRENCE Kan. - The University of Northern Iowa swimming and diving team topped South Dakota, 161-102, while falling to Kansas, 91-161. Bethany Olson was the lone Panther to finish in first place.
Olson took first in the 3-meter dive, finishing with 250.40 points. She finished with 266.65 points in the 1-meter to take the runner-up spot.
Caryn Knight was the Panthers top swimmer for the breaststroke. She took second in the 200 breaststroke, followed by a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Her times were 2:30.16 and 1:08.60, respectively. Knight also took the runner-up spot in the 200 IM, clocking in with a time of 2:13.90.
Chelsea Hartman took control of the distance swims, placing second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 1,000 freestyle. She finished in 5:15.88 in the 500 freestyle and 10:33.66 in the 1,000 freestyle.
Natalie Johnson led the Panthers in the backstrokes. She finished the 100 backstroke in 1:00.64, followed by a 2:12.65 finish in the 200 backstroke.
Jamie Pearson finished the night with a runner-up spot in the 100 butterfly. She clocked in with a time of 1:00.77. Teammate Rebecca Ortmann took third in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 55.48.
The Panthers return to action Sun., Jan. 30 at Illinois State. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
