Panther Women's Tennis Completes Bracket Sweep at Drake Invitational

DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team completed its final winning day at the Drake Invitational. The Panthers won all five brackets that were contested at the Drake Invite.
Sophomore Phoebe Walker defeated Anna Kirshenbaum of Creighton in the semifinals 6-0, 6-2. She then went on to face Drake's Manca Krizman in the finals and beat her 7-6, 6-1 to win the `A' Flight singles.
Sophomore Jessica Kunzelmann cruised past Drake's Jessica Aguilera 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals and went on to face teammate Krissy Lankelma in the finals. Lankelma beat Amanda Aragon of Drake 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the finals to face her teammate. Kunzelmann defeated the freshman Lankelma 7-5, 6-3 to win the `B' Flight singles.
Freshman Chelsea Moore topped Iowa State's Nikki Reber 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals. Moore then went on to square off in the finals against teammate Katy Delagardelle, who won her semifinal match against Earlynn Lauer of Drake 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Moore ended up beating Delagardelle 6-1, 6-0 to win the finals of the `C' flight singles.
Junior Laia Gonzalez-Garrido beat Kelsey Schmidt of Creighton 6-0, 6-4 in the semifinals to advance to the finals of the `A' Flight consolation singles. She went on to defeat Minnesota's Peta Forsyth 6-4, 6-2 for the final's win.
Sophomore Stefannia was beat by default in the finals of the `C' flight consolations singles by Ellie Nixon of Iowa State.
The Panthers will be back in action September 24-26 at home at their UNI Invitational.
